Numerous things can cause chest pains. Some are serious, while others... well, let's just say that *I thought I was gonna die*!!! only to find out it was something unrelated to the heart whatsoever. Yay... right??? Well, almost. It was the education that I had to go thru to understand the difference between chest pain *and* CHEST PAIN!!! Geez, I really hate learnin' new stuff... cuz after all, I thought I knew it all.

Come to find out, there are a plethora of things that can cause CHEST PAINS... that turn out to be chest pains. For instance, costochondritis is something that I have had to deal w over and over in the winter time. Why it only affects me in the wintertime, I have no idea. Costocondritis is an inflammation of the junctions where the upper ribs join with the cartilage that holds them to the breastbone or sternum.

Defintion courtesty emdicinehealth.com:

How about chest colds... The more u cough, the more ur chest is gonna hurt. IF ur chest is hurting... could it be a scary thing??? My advice, *IF* u think something is wrong, contact ur doc.

How about a game of football... Oh yeah!!! It can cause chest pains... broken ribs, etc.

Did u ever think *cold air* could cause chest pains... Think again. Yet, those r not the chest pains to worry about too much. A hot cup of cocoa might help.

There is one other chest pain that can be quite scary... yet, again, it is a minor treatable medical condition. Esophageal spasm. It mimics a heart attack, in its presentation (at least for me). Scared the h*ll out of me until I understood it had to do with what and how fast I ate. **SILLY ME**!!!

*CHEST PAINS*

We finally get to the area that is the most important. Issues surrounding the heart. The heart is a muscle. It has four valves and is the workhorse of the body. The engine, so to speak.

Personally, I have *NOT* had a heart attack... Yet, it does run in the family genetic tree, so I am *AWARE* of the issues of a heart attack.

The symptoms of men and women vary. Sometimes, women feel pain in the back. That is not something to mess around with. If u have pain in the back and ur a woman that has not been active for a period of time, u may be having an issue w ur heart. In some guys chest pains can start in the chest and go up the left shoulder and down the left arm. Other times it may go up the jaw. It could wrap around to the back. There r a great number of symptoms and this article is not gonna cover them all.

Heat exhaustion and heat stroke can also cause issues w the heart. Please be safe out in the heat and drink plenty of water, gatorade and 7up (for the electrolytes). Skip the coffee, becuz the caffeine can cause problems in the heat.

I am *NO* expert and so it would be wrong for me to give any kind of advice. Please be careful. Chest pains can be easily treated or they may be a sign of something more serious. Contact ur doc if u believe ur having symptoms of *CHEST PAIN*.
